Lindsey model took over 1150 hours to complete in two stages:
Dec. 2007 - March 2008 - the first stage of 800 hours for the base, hull, cabins, masts, bowsprit, setting the first 3 main sails and some detailing.
August 2010 - November 2010 - the final stage of 350 hours for rigging, placing of jibs and topsails, bowsprit net and final detailing.
Lindsey's model dimensions are - length 49 inches (scaled to 1 model inch = 3.06 yacht feet), width 5.75 inches, mounting base 9.75 X 37.5 inches, overall height 44.5 inches and weighs approximately 29 pounds. Lindsey's Hull, Blocks (pulleys), and most wood detailing are solid pine; the Sails are 'Ice Birch' wood veneer (from Germany). Other notables are the use of solid oak for hull to rigging reinforcing, bowsprit, masts, cabin roofs, and on deck storage covers; Cedar was utilized for the zodiac, runabout boats and deck benches. The mainstay is stainless steel leader, other lines include coated stainless steel leader or acrylic treated nylon twine. Detailing is all Handcrafted (i.e. propeller, anchors, crew, etc.) Wood finish is Polyurethane with some use of water based polycrylic.
Due to limited pictures during the first stage, the cabins and upper mast details differ and the width is not true to scale. Therefore, as the Model is not a true replica of 'Linden of Mariehamn', considered a likeness, it was so named -
